Hosted by Pontefract Civic Society -This illustrated talk presented by Eric Houlder, outlines the history of aerial photography, particularly in the study of the past. It then moves on to the use of the recently de-classified colour infrared film by the speaker and his friend Michael Leach in the 70’s, leading to the discovery of a lost Civil War earthwork in Baghill , a Roman Mansio (way-station) below Castlesyke Hill, and other important sites locally and around the region.
