This event has ended

Youth Mental Health First Aid (accredited by Mental Health First Aid England)

This is an internationally recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health in young people and provide help on a first aid basis. In the same way as learning physical first aid, MHFA teaches people how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health and feel confident to guide a young person to appropriate support.

Delegates will be given an in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and the factors that affect their wellbeing as well as giving confidence in reassuring and supporting a young person in distress. They will gain enhanced interpersonal skills, such as non-judgmental listening as well as the ability to support a young person with a long term mental health issue ir disability to thrive. The course also provides tools to look after personal mental wellbeing whilst supporting others.

Delegates will learn about signs, symptoms and support for mental health conditions, from anxiety and depression to suicide and psychosis. At the end of the course, each delegate will receive a handbook to support them in their new role as a Youth Mental Health First Aider.

The course is taking place at The Kyte Hotel, Darrington on 12th – 13th February 2020. The cost of the course includes two days of training, all course materials and lunch.
